TCID50 calculator

Endpoint titres from serial dilutions by Reed–Muench and Spearman–Kärber, with a standard error, a 95 % confidence interval, and — the part the inherited Excel sheets leave out — an explicit verdict when the plate never brackets the 50 % endpoint and the titre is only a lower bound.

1 · Plate setup

One row per independent plate. These defaults are the lab's standing convention.

Replicate wells scored at each step.
The dilution in the left-most column.
Step between columns (10 = ten-fold).
200 µl → TCID50/mL = titre × 5.

2 · Infected wells

Paste straight from Excel. Each row is one plate: an optional sample name, then the number of infected wells at each dilution, left to right starting at the first dilution. Tabs, commas, semicolons or spaces all work.
